		<description>Hi Brad,

Sorry to take so long to respond to your comment - I operate a little more slowly when on vacation.

I would certainly understand why people would feel a high degree of anger and frustration at such policies, especially those individuals who are unfortunate to fall into that category and be adversely affected. Why, some people may well fell, should be charged for two seats simply because of their size?

On the other hand, the airlines may have a fair argument, especially if they feel that they are unable to offer the seat immediately next to the passenger concerned. In such cases, the extra large person is effectively causing two seats worth of capacity on the flight to be used, and the airline is losing potential revenue if they do not charge for the full two seats.

Interesting topic. I don&#039;t know if I have a clear opinion one way or the other.

Given the current turmoil within the aviation industry, particularly with rising fuel costs, it will be interesting to see what other types of means that airlines will use to raise revenue.

Cheers

<description>Andrew, you might think the Chinese rules reflect a different culture or political environment, but here in the States, there&#039;s talk among the airlines of charging obese people for two seats. People here are all worked up over the idea, both pro and con.
